Beyoncé, Jay-Z to headline the free Global Citizen concert

The Global Citizen Festival will be held in South Africa on December 2.

The festival is the culmination of Global Citizen's "Mandela 100 " campaign in partnership with the House of Mandela; a series of global events honoring the life and legacy of Apartheid struggle hero and former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela in his centenary year.

Oprah Winfrey will give a keynote address Mandela's legacy, and other hosts will include Naomi Campbell and actors Forest Whitaker and Tyler Perry.

The Global Citizen Festival will host a star studded line up of musical performances by Ed Sheeran, D'Banj, Chris Martin, Usher, Pharrell Williams and a stellar list of local artists. "I cherish everything he taught me about giving, sharing, and forgiving, and I look forward to celebrating his life on December 2nd".

It has grown into one of the largest, most visible platforms for young people around the world, calling on world leaders to honour their responsibilities in achieving the United Nations sustainable development goals and ending extreme poverty by 2030.

Femi said, "The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 is a great opportunity to use the emotive power of music to draw attention to the issue of extreme poverty globally".

The show will be the culmination of the Global Poverty Project's Mandela 100 campaign, a series of worldwide events honouring the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela in his centenary year.

To get tickets to this first of it's kind concert, all you have to do is a good deed in the spirit of the late Mandela. In order to obtain a ticket to festival, you are encouraged to take action in the initiatives of Global Citizen.
