Michelle Anaya provided the information on behalf of Jean Lonchak Danylko's family at a news conference Monday.

According to troopers, a 911 call was received at 4:42 Sunday afternoon for the aircraft crash into the residential community on Settlement Drive, right off Ironbound Road.

Authorities have yet to locate and identify the pilot of the helicopter.

The College of William and Mary said the incident happened near Dillard Complex and that people should avoid the area.

Additionally, federal, state, and police, along with the Williamsburg Fire Department, are working to identify the pilot of the helicopter.

It was not immediately clear who owned the aircraft. Police say the crash caused a fire at a townhouse.

Brook Sweeney, who lives across the street from one of the homes on fire, said her whole house shook when the helicopter made impact.

Neighbors said in the midst of all of the trauma, they are grateful for the first responders.

Photos shared by the Virginia State police department showed extensive damage to the residential structure, with the worst of the destruction occurring on the second floor.

The FAA tweeted Sunday night that they and the NTSB would investigate to determine a probable cause of the crash. She was active in the seniors community and at her church, Saint Olaf.
