18 people, including a school principal, 2 teachers & 15 students, in Bihar are being investigated over a police complaint that they sexually assaulted a class-nine girl over last nearly six months - I.e since December, 2017.
The police have registered a case at the Ekma police station in Chhapra's Parsagarh. She further alleged that during this period she was also raped by 15 students. "The 14 other accused are absconding".
The girl said she did not report the abuse immediately, "fearing society would ostracise" her. In her complaint, the girl alleged that she was first raped by some of the students of her school in a toilet there in December 2017. Everyone in possession of the video, including her two teachers and the principal, began blackmailing her and sexually exploited her, the girl said. Later, when she threatened to reach out to higher officials, a complaint was filed.
When the victim complained to the principal about the incident, he convinced and persuaded her not to lodge a complaint as the matter would bring disrepute to her and the family, the SP said. Police say they are searching for the rest of the accused.
Police sent the girl for a medical check-up and started a search for the other accused. Along with the headmaster, teacher Balaji and two minor students were also held. "'We have formed a team led by Chapra Sadar DSP to probe the case and arrest all the culprits", he added.
