Comcast internet, cable, and phone services are down nationwide

The Charles County, Maryland, Sheriff's Department said on Twitter that its non-emergency phone lines aren't working because Comcast is its internet service provider and asked residents not to report non-emergencies.

On Friday, Comcast customers across the United States reported technical issues with their service.

In a statement, Comcast said its engineers were restoring service to residential and business customers.


Representatives for Comcast didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The company took to Twitter to provide updates and urge customers not to call 911. Downdetector's pages for AT&T and Comcast make the breadth of the outage very clear, and numerous service and edge companies like Netflix are also reporting some connectivity headaches.

'We again apologize to anyone who was impacted'.

This outage is causing intermittent problems for people using Comcast's Xfinity ISP.


Comcast reported last quarter it serves 29.6 million total business and residential customers.

San Francisco-based Network monitoring and intelligence firm ThousandEyes began seeing network issues across the Net beginning about 12:15 p.m. ET.
