The Vivo NEX duo are packed with some exciting features like highest screen-to-body ratio display, under-display fingerprint reader and pop-up selfie camera. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. The NEX S with 128 GB storage is priced at 4498 yuan ($702 / Rs. 47,375 approx.), 256GB version will cost 4998 yuan ($780 / Rs. 52,640 approx.) and NEX A will cost 3898 yuan (US$ 608 / Rs. 41,055 approx.). These phones do not have notch design and display is having 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio with tiny bezels on all sides including bottom.
For now, the Vivo NEX is limited to the Chinese market, where the phone will go on sale for the equivalent of $610. The handset shares its other features and design with the bigger brother. The device comes with in-house Jovi AI assistant and there is also a dedicated button to trigger it.
The first bezel-less smartphone has arrived – and it looks stunning
Missing from Vivo's details are the location of other sensors, like the light sensor that dims the display when you're in a dark environment, or turns the display off when you put the phone to your ears. The display is enabled with support of DCI-P3 color gamut. Like the Vivo X21 before it, the Nex features an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Vivo has partnered with Tencent, NetEase, and Unreal for game optimization.
NEX incorporates AI technology that makes the smartphone truly smart. But that will only matter to Chinese smartphone users who pick up the Vivo Nex. It replaces the earpiece from the front and vibrates the screen through a micro-vibration unit to generate the sound that promises better bass and softer treble. The mouthpiece appears to be placed in the lower bezel. If rumors are to be believed, Find X will feature a 6.4-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB RAM. Android 8.1 running beneath Vivo's own Funtouch OS 4.0 is what's powering the Vivo NEX.
The selfie shooter's retractable motor is guaranteed to withstand over 50,000 activations, while the extra-large, extra-tall 6.59-inch FHD+ 19.3:9 Super AMOLED display also contains something called "Screen SoundCasting Technology".
It is a smaller variant of the Nex S and comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Octa-Core processor coupled with Adreno 616 GPU for Gaming. Both the phones are equipped with an 8 MP pop-up camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture.
For the selfie-takers out there, I haven't tested the Vivo Nex to see how quick - or slowly - the selfie camera pops out of its hiding place. The phone has support for Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi with 2×2 MIMO. The Nex's battery measures in at 4000mAh, and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, too.
Another wonderful feature of the Vivo NEX is that it has a pop-up selfie camera that remains hidden under the top bezel of the phone.
