French striker Antoine Griezmann has announced he is staying at Atletico Madrid in a prolonged interview style show aired tonight.

Partidazo also published a snippet of one of the videos on Twitter, only to swiftly delete it again.

"I have chose to stay", he said at the end of the Spanish programme. "But the truth is what I am going to say now".

Honestly, Pies don't think we can bear the Dawson's Creek-level of tension. Spanish time (3:15 p.m. ET).

Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique responded with a tweet soon after the teaser video, joking that he would be eating some popcorn while he watched.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for well over 12 months, with a move to Manchester United highly anticipated last summer.

What do you make of Griezmann's decision and how it's gone about making it public?

His decision to stay follows Atletico's acquisition of his worldwide teammate Thomas Lemar.

It has been claimed in France that Griezmann will sign a new Atletico contract during the World Cup, bringing the Barca speculation to an end.

"I'm so happy. I really appreciate the club's confidence in me", Gimenez said in a statement. The forward, who has been an integral part of Atletico Madrid in the last few seasons, has been on the radar of many big clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona this season.

"They are doing everything they can to keep Atletico growing and so that they can play the Champions League final, hopefully at home [in 2019]".
