Resident Evil 2 Is Finally Getting The Remake It Deserves

After unveiling Devil May Cry 5 at Microsoft's pre-E3 media briefing, Capcom has used Sony's event to premiere the first footage of the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 2. The E3 2018 trailer highlighted many returning characters, showed off remade versions of classic locations, and also featured a small easter egg that references the game's legacy. The preview was, to put it mildly, stunning.

As we can see, Resident Evil 2 Remake will be a third-person game with the camera behind/near the shoulder of the character.

Although the Sony branded trailers imply the game is an exclusive, it's actually not and is also being released on Xbox One and PC.

Capcom Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also spoke about the RE2 remake and said that this first reveal is just the tip of the iceberg with what is left to come. At the time of publication, it doesn't appear that the preorders are live, but keep an eye out - they should be showing up any time now.

While we know that Runners, Stalkers and Clickers are still out there as some of the main enemies in The Last of Us: Part II, the trailer ends with Ellie smiling, showing that the end of the world doesn't have to necessarily be all that bad.

It's hard to describe just how much work seems to have gone into this remake; they've created photorealistic models from the ground up and will even have a few new surprises in terms of level design. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies.

Face the grotesque hordes - Zombies are brought to life with a horrifyingly realistic wet gore effect as they react in real time taking instant visible damage, making every bullet count. Players will feel they're in the shoes of heroes Leon and Claire, terrified to step out of the light for fear of what flesh-eating nightmares might await them in the darkness.
