Two days before a South Florida woman was fatally attacked by an alligator, an emailed warning about a trespassing gator was sent out to homeowners in the waterfront community where she lived.

The body of a woman who went missing in Florida last Friday has been found, local officials have confirmed, explaining that she had been killed by an alligator while walking her dogs.

When the cut open the animal to investigate the contents of its stomach, they found an arm presumed to be of Plantation, Florida resident Shizuka Matsuki, who had disappeared recently.

One had a fresh wound on its side, they noticed, so they alerted authorities.

The dogs didn't want to leave the lake and were being cared for by Broward County Animal Care and Adoption, WSVN said.

Florida Fish and Wildlife spokesman Robert Klepper told the Palm Beach Post the agency has received 11 calls about alligator activity in the Silver Lake Rotary Nature Park area since 2005.

Authorities located her body a short time later, the FWC announced on Twitter.

"This tragedy is heartbreaking for everyone involved, and our honest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim at this time", Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Rob Klepper told KPLG-TV.

"He had warned her not to take the dogs over to that place because they had seen gators before and it isn't safe", Limia said, relaying what he had heard from other neighbors.

One resident saw a woman walking her dogs near the park, and then later, three dogs were found wandering alone, one of which was injured.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Saturday it will be "conducting a thorough investigation into this incident".

The warning from the neighborhood association about alligators in the water may have prompted her to change things up and go to a lake farther away.

The most recent death occurred in 2016, when a 2-year-old boy playing near the water's edge at a Walt Disney World resort was killed.
