As we reported, Kate Spade died this week after taking her own life in her New York City apartment.

Spade, 55, rose to prominence in fashion starting with her line of handbags in the 1990s, starting a company along with husband Andy Spade. She reportedly left a suicide note addressed to her 13-year-old daughter, telling the girl that the decision was not her fault and not to blame herself. While working at Mademoiselle, she noticed there was a need for stylish handbags, but it was her husband who convinced her to set out to fill the void. "So pretty I dont think everyone knew how f***ing amusing she was". He said that he had dinner with her a week before her death and that "she was still talking very much about the future and collaborating with Andy on projects for Frances Valentine".

The son of Kate's housekeeper (who remains unnamed), Mark Roldan, 23, said his mother was completely devastated over the death of the woman she considered to be her "best friend".

Brosnahan said he knew Spade was having troubles and that she had been taking pills that he advised her not to take. "I was not Kate Spade".

Saffo told The Kansas City Star in an email that she regularly spoke to Spade on the phone for between six and seven hours.

"She has a brand loyalty like none I have ever seen", Hitha Herzog, chief research officer of H Squared Research, told ABC News.

"She was always giving and charitable". This time Tapestry, the company formerly known as Coach, paid $2.4 billion for it. Spade's death left a legion of celebrities and fans of her designs heartbroken. "She liked the business".

As the media coverage of Kate Spade's apparent suicide is showing no signs of subsiding, one of the designer's brothers, Earl Brosnahan, issued a statement Thursday thanking the torrent of strength people have provided and took aim at erroneous leaks to the media. "It was a time in the marriage when it was right for them to be apart", she said.
