Amazon Studios has released a creeptacular teaser trailer for their upcoming big screen horror remake of Suspiria, which features gyrating dancers, worms crawling out of people's skin and Tilda Swinton in weird old man makeup for some reason.
Guadagnino's film tells the story of a young ballerina, played by Dakota Johnson, who joins a dance company where awful, hellish experiences begin to hound her.
Suspiria is set to hit theaters on November 2. It caused quite the stir, and promises a no-prisoners remake.
In an interview with The Guardian a year ago, Guadagnino described his remake as "a homage to the incredible, powerful emotion I felt when I saw it [Argento's film]". Now we have our first trailer, and it looks incredible.
All of these things sound fantastic to me and bode well for the reboot, which is described thusly: "As a darkness builds at the center of a world-renowned dance company, its artistic director, a young American new to the troupe, and a grieving psychotherapist become entangled in a bloody, sighing nightmare".
