Kelly Marie Tran, who played Rose Tico in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", has taken herself offline after experiencing months of social media harassment.

Her page inscription, "Afraid, but doing it anyway", remains.

After Tran was cast in the new Star Wars trilogy previous year, she became the target of angry male star wars fans.

Soon after the movie hit theaters in December, Tran revealed that she faced sexist and racist comments from abusive fans.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Benicio del Toro.

"On social media a few unhealthy people can cast a big shadow on the wall, but over the past 4 years I've met lots of real fellow SW fans", he said.

At this time a year ago, Kelly Marie Tran's most impressive IMDB credit was either her role in the indie horror anthology XOXO or her appearance on IFC's Comedy Bang!

We like & dislike stuff but we do it with humor, love & respect.

"Guys, can I tell you a secret?"

"I avoided public social media for a long time purely because I was afraid". Hopefully this is an attempt by the actress to keep her 192k followers around so that she can keep a number of her actual fans should she decide to start her account back up again.

Tran's departure from Instagram makes her the second "Star Wars" actress to leave social media due to online harassment.

In an interview with Glamour in December, Ridley said: "I posted a thing about gun regulations, because I was at an event in tribute to the Orlando shooting at Pulse".

'People weren't nice about how I looked. If I want to talk about gun safety, I will talk about gun safety. "(I honestly just wrote this in my journal as a reminder to myself, because hey, I'm mostly a strong person, but life happens, and I'm still figuring it out as I go.)". Simple as that. That is not what I signed up for. But I didn't sign up for them to say things like, "Your skin is s***" either'.
