Real Madrid defender Marcelo has spoken of his desire to play alongside Brazilian teammate Neymar at the Bernabeu despite the starlet's Barcelona past. However, despite picking up Ligue 1 and Coupe de France trophies in his first season with PSG, there has been near-constant reports linking Neymar with a sensational return to Spain.
He was named in Tite's squad for Russian Federation 2018 as expected this week and all eyes will be on Brazil's first pre-World Cup friendly against Croatia on June 3.
He said: "It would be awful, because of all that Neymar means for Barcelona".
Should Real Madrid wish to actually deliver the "huge blow" to Messi and their rivals at Barcelona, they may have to get past the Emir of Qatar.
As Neymar battles to be fit for Brazil's World Cup campaign, he is aware of the pressure.
Brazilian icon Rivaldo has expressed his view that Neymar will "not win anything important", including the Champions League, if he stays at Paris Saint-Germain.
"This is a hard time, one of the most hard that I have faced", Neymar told Jornal Nacional. "And on a football level, it would make Madrid much stronger than they already are".
Messi and Ronaldo are without doubt the greatest players of the current era and arguably of all time, but there is a long standing debate about who among the two is better. "His teams are used to playing [with offensive style] and at PSG, we also have players who like to play, so it's a good basis to start".
"I've started training with the ball, I've started shooting and passing and now it's just a case of improving", he added.
"I faced him with Monaco [in the Champions League in 2016-17]", he told Le Parisien. "We want to overcome that barrier", he said.
