Jammu: A Border Security Force jawan was killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistani army along the International Border (IB) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior BSF official said Tuesday.

The BSF troopers from nearby mounds further retaliated by firing.

This is the fourth infiltration bid to be foiled by the BSF along the IB in the past four days.

BSF troops fired few illumination rounds as area close to worldwide boundary has thick foliage and hinders observation.

The BSF constable has been identified as Constable Davender Singh Baghel.

The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Tuesday when Pakistani forces began unprovoked firing from across the LoC in the Samba sector. "Our sister agencies and J&K police are fully alive to the situation", he said. The border along the IB has been witnessing he frequent ceasefire violation by Pakistan since last few months.

Sharma said Pakistan is their hostile neighbour which always is in a process to infiltrate terrorists into this side. "We will track and neutralise them soon". This time it is not going to be any exception.

Asked about intelligence reports suggesting presence of terrorists at launching pads across the border, he said there is no second thought that a lot of terrorists were present at the launching pads and Pakistan is attempting to push them into this side. Martyrdom of Constable Singh will not go in vain.
