Golf star's wife charged after allegedly attacking him for poor round

The wife of American golfer Lucas Glover was arrested for domestic battery after an attack on the US Open victor during the recently completed Players Championship, according to police reports.

Krista Glover, the wife of the surprise 2009 US Open victor, was arrested at a house where the couple was staying during the tournament, following an altercation with her husband.

When police arrived at the scene they noticed multiple lacerations to Lucas and his 62-year-old mother, who had blood on her shirt.

In the report, Lucas Glover told deputies Krista began berating him for playing poorly at The Players, where he missed the secondary cut on Saturday. Glover has won three times on tour, including the 2009 U.S. Open. Following the tournament's third round, Krista Glover was arrested and charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest.

The police report also said that Krista Glover attempted to flee the scene after her arrest and that she kicked a door of a police vehicle so hard it caused the door to "visibly separate from the cell of the door frame".

Deputies noted that Lucas glover backpedaled some of his statements after his wife was placed in handcuffs, saying there had been no fight.

Hershey said in her statement to police that she tried to stop an "altercation" between the couple at which point Krista began "striking Hershey in her arm".

In a statement to, the PGA Tour said it supported Glover and his family: "We are aware of the situation and Lucas informed us of his statement, which has since been posted to his Twitter account". Deputies say the alleged attack was in front of their two underage children and Lucas' mother.

Krista Glover was arrested Saturday night and taken to the St. John's County Jail.

Police officials noted in the report that Krista resisted them, refusing to get in the squad auto by "blocking herself from sitting down". She allegedly stiffened up her body and wrapped her legs around the door to make the task hard. "You will lose your job".

"This is why cops get shot in the face", she told deputies. She was released on $2,500 bond and has a date in court on May 31.

He and Krista live in Jupiter and were married in 2012.
