First lady Melania 'doing really well' after medical procedure: Donald Trump

Trump departed the White House on Marine One shortly after 4 p.m. and touched down at the military hospital in Bethesda, Md., roughly 10 minutes later.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that his wife "will be leaving hospital in 2 or 3 days".

The first lady underwent the procedure on Monday, and her office said she would likely remain in the hospital for the rest of the week.

Later at an event honoring fallen police officers on Capitol Hill he again adressed her stay at Walter Reed Medical Center just outside Washington. Walter Reed Medical Center. "Thank you for so much love and support!"

The president and first lady spoke by telephone on Monday, before the procedure at Walter Reed, and again on Tuesday, the White House said.

Vice President Mike Pence, however, described the procedure as "long-planned" as he opened a speech in Washington on Monday night.

Stephanie Grisham, communication director for Melania Trump, said the "procedure was successful and there were no complications".

Mrs. Trump unveiled her official policy platform "Be Best" last week.

An embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that blocks one or more blood vessels or abnormal vascular channels.
