This console is to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the SNK brand. The new contender is a miniature version of SNK's arcade cabinet-cum-home console, the Neo Geo.

SNK announced that the Mini Neo Geo will come pre-loaded with 40 classic games and will come in two versions, a Japanese one for Asia and an worldwide version for North America, Europe and the rest of the world.

The Neo Geo Mini comes preloaded with a whopping 40 games, though there hasn't been any official announcement on which will be onboard just yet.

For now, SNK has not announced the price or the release date of this Neo Geo Mini retro console. Just as we thought, it is a compact retro arcade console. Additional connection terminals include a headphone jack and two controller ports. SNK contends it "fits perfectly in the palm of one's hand", and that may be true, but the shape might make it a little awkward for prolonged handheld play. Based on the promotional material, though, games like Metal Slug, Samurai Showdown and King of Fighters, a franchise that still rocks on today, will be included. Expect at least one version of Metal Slug, one Art of fighting, and at least one King of Fighters game. The screen's resolution is unclear, although users can hook up the console to their TV via the HDMI port if they want a large-screen experience. It will arrive fully equipped with 40 iconic games hailing from the original Neo Geo system. SNK hasn't said yet whether the two versions will have identical game libraries.

Pricing and release date remain uncertain. The US, Europe, Canada, South America, and other regions will get a blue, black, and white-colored machine, while the Asia region will get a red, white, and blue version.
