In May for the past 11 years, Lowe's has partnered with Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity to rebuild houses. More than 18,000 women nationwide are participating in this decade old tradition.

"As I said earlier to somebody, you know it demonstrates that woman can do more than just make beds and wash dishes".

"This is an awesome program that empowers women while bringing volunteers together to make a difference in the community", said Holden.

Scott County Habitat for Humanity is one of 300 communities that has readied up for the cause this week. "We are very unique that we have such a strong crew of incredible women that build with us throughout the year and actually build houses, so when I say we are doing our eighth house, they built nearly 10 percent of our homes". "So they are living in a hotel".

Arbor Bend is Habitat Greater Orlando's third planned community, which will feature 34 homes upon its completion in 2019.

The organization say its building these new homes to give moms safe places to raise their children.

"I think if the community can come together and support them in any way they can, I think that is a wonderful thing to do", Prather said.

Selected families purchased their houses through no-profit, no-interest loans and each family invested 500 hours of sweat equity towards the purchase price of their new homes.
