The biggest headline story to start the week has been the reveal that#Fox News host#Sean Hannity is a client of #Michael Cohen, the disgraced lawyer of Donald Trump.

"We just spoke with his publicist here at Fox News, who says that he says they have been friends a long time, he never denied that he was his lawyer, that he did some legal work for him along the way, and that's the extent of that", Smith said. "I have faith in the Southern District US Attorney's Office that their integrity is unimpeachable", making a taint team "a viable option", Judge Wood said.

The news broke at about 3 p.m. Monday, giving late-night comedians just enough time to squeeze in some giddy one-liners in honor of "Hannity Day", as Trevor Noah dubbed it. Stephen Colbert went with a different banner: "Hannity Insanity".

Now the top ratings draw at Fox News, Hannity has been described by colleagues as enjoying free rein inside the network.

Cohen's lawyer can share subsets of the material with Trump and the Trump Organization for their own privilege review.

"The names of Cohen's clients are at issue because the lawyer has argued that materials seized in an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on his home and office are subject to attorney-client privilege". On Monday evening, Hannity downplayed the legal relationship, saying, "Cohen never represented me in any legal matter".

Highlighting that Cohen was forced by the judge during a federal court hearing on Monday to reveal the name of his secret third client, Kimmel noted that it turned out to be his "pal" Hannity.

"The client's name is Sean Hannity", Ryan said. One of them is Donald Trump, for whom he paid Stormy Daniels; client number two is Elliott Broidy.

"I really think that you should have disclosed your relationship with Cohen when you talked about him on this show", Dershowitz said. "Michael Cohen wasn't saying that Sean Hannity was his client", co-host Ainsley Earhardt stated, before adding. Baloo once said to Kit Cloudkicker in the old Disney cartoon TaleSpin how honesty was the best the policy and he's right.

Daniels is engaged in a separate civil legal fight over $130,000 (€105,000) she received in a 2016 agreement arranged by Cohen to stop her from discussing a sexual encounter she says she had with Trump a decade earlier. Would you see a conflict there? "They'll be like 'drink tummy tea, by the way, I'm sponsored by tummy tea, '" he joked.

In a legal filing before the hearing Monday, Cohen said that, since 2017, he had worked as a lawyer for 10 clients, seven of whom he served by providing "strategic advice and business consulting".

"We have now entered a risky phase", Hannity said on TV on the day of the raids, without mentioning any potential danger to himself. Addressing Hannity's comments about Cohen, Kimmel said, "It's interesting, he has a lawyer he doesn't pay".

Over on the Daily Show, Trevor Noah noted that it wasn't a "good look" for Hannity to be one of Cohen's clients.

"Michael Cohen never represented me in any legal matter", he said. "They leave me alone".

This implies that he did not disclose his Cohen connection to management, possibly running afoul of Fox policy.

Then, last night, he dedicated nearly a full three minutes at the end of his show to explaining how silly the "hysterical media" was being about this whole thing.
