Reuters for its photographs that showed the violence experienced by the Rohingya Muslims fleeing Myanmar. This makes his win more important. The best biography was found to be Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder by Caroline Fraser.
Frank Bidart's "Half-Light" was the poetry victor. This well known collection even won the 2017 National Book Award for poetry and is praised for, " building on classical mythology and reinventing forms of desires that defy societal norms".
Less, by Andrew Sean Greer won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction: A tale about the comic adventures of a middle-aged novelist, widely praised as poignant and amusing and was ranked among the year's best by The Washington Post, which called it an "elegantly" told story of a man who "loses everything: his lover, his suitcase, his beard, his dignity".
The Pulitzer board called the album a work that captures the complexity of African-American life.
