The same week it celebrates its first birthday, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. has just won a Pulitzer Prize.

Kendrick Lamar is officially a Pulitzer Prize victor.

DAMN. was nominated for multiple Grammys, and took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album.

"On the first track, "Blood", Lamar takes a swipe by sampling audio of two Fox News reporters reciting anti-police lyrics from his Black Lives Matter anthem "Alright" - "'And they hate popo'...ugh, I don't like it'" - which he performed standing atop a police auto at the 2015 BET Awards.

"DAMN" is Lamar's fourth studio album and was released in April 2017.

Lamar has been praised and lauded for his deep lyrical content, remarkable live performances, and his profound mix of hip-hop, spoken word, jazz, soul, funk, poetry and African sounds.

The New York Times and New Yorker were jointly awarded the Pulitzer prize for public service on Monday for investigating accusations of sexual harassment and assault made against one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, Harvey Weinstein.
