Today, the Japanese gaming luminary announced that the SMS versions of Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd are coming to the Switch.

At the panel, it was mentioned that Sega Ages will have "fifteen games or above", meaning that depending on how well the first fifteen available games do, more will be added.

M2, the developer behind the classic 3D conversions of Sega games for the 3DS, is behind the games, so you can expect perfection straight from the source code - along with other notable features.

As we've previously reported, the first five games are Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Ground Gain, Sonic the Hedgehog, Thunder Force IV and Phantasy Star.

Some additional details about some of the games to be featured in SEGA AGES were revealed at SEGA Fes 2018 in a panel after the announcement. SEGA Ages titles will start releasing on Nintendo Switch this Summer. Plus Genesis versions of Thunder Force IV, Sonic the Hedgehod, and the original arcade version of Gain Ground.

Octopath Traveler, the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive RPG from Square Enix, has received its first rating courtesy of Australia. The series then came West, with SEGA Ages: Volume 1, a collection of enhanced ports of Space Harrier, OutRun, and After Burner II, released in 1997 on the Sega Saturn.
