A Winter Weather Advisory (purple-shaded area on highlighted map) has been issued for Winnebago, Boone, McHenry and Lake Counties in IL this Saturday evening, as temperatures have dropped to around 32-degrees and the wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow in southern Wisconsin has slipped south into the adjacent IL counties.
"A moisture laden low pressure area over the central plains states will amble slowly towards the lower Great Lakes this weekend", reads the freezing rain warning issued around 10:50 a.m.
Freezing rain may become mixed with or turn over to ice pellets before potentially tapering off to patchy freezing drizzle for a few hours Saturday night.
Total ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are expected, which will create hard driving conditions.
The Service is forecasting sleet and freezing rain.
Wintry mix precipitation is likely Sunday night and snow possible Monday.
"The ice will result in very slippery conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges", the weather service says.
That flood watch is in effect from Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon.
