The superintendent said he got feedback from teachers through a separate survey conducted by the United Teachers of Lowell union. The bond from that year also included money to install the locks, sometimes called "Columbine locks", on every classroom door from kindergarten to high school in the state's second-largest school district.

Smith said the added security measures must be weighed against turning schools into something else.

"We don't believe the student is a threat to anybody, we don't believe the student poses a danger to anybody", said Cassiday. "In the event the student fails or drops out of school, he or she can be provided the best academic option according to his or her past academic record (school or government)", said an official of the state education department.

The students seemed more engaged compared to previous summits and were more comfortable during each workshop because they were able to voice their opinions freely.

The summit had 9th to 12th graders from Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, Tinian High School, Kagman High School, Dr. Rita Hocog Inos High School, and Da'ok Academy.

Lewis and Clark High School Principal Marybeth Smith announced to students last week that the locked doors will be part of their routine starting after spring break. Teachers and students encourage each other throughout the school year to find ways to make a positive impact on others.

A School District 59 teacher in Dawson Creek was suspended by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch a year ago for losing track of a box of carving knives at the school.

"I took immediate action in firing the substitute teacher that allowed this to happen", he said in an email. "Because we don't give the kids a choice in their career, it's totally random; you have all kinds of life scenarios that you have to make adjustments with".

"I've been doing strength training and eating well and resting, but mostly I just run a whole lot more than most people would consider appropriate or normal", said Fletcher. If you are the parent of a high school senior, have you shared on social media "Another acceptance!" each time your kiddo is sent a fat envelope from a college?

"At the school community we are quite mindful of keeping the school environment business as usual", Karaki said.

Magirl said officers contacted the two students mentioned in the threat to assure them the situation had been resolved.
