If you don't already know who Shohei Ohtani is, then you likely will soon.

We all thought Ohtani the Pitcher would be more valuable than Ohtani the Hitter, particularly in leagues like Yahoo's, which separated the Los Angeles Angels phenom into two separate draftable players. All things considered I'm going Angels (mostly due to their offensive advantage) but it should be a fun one to watch. They are taught to focus on pitching, and only pitching. Simmons was hitting.356 with a major-league leading 21 hits.

Ohtani, however, is clearly breaking that mold. Limiting opportunities for injury is a key focal point of many managers, especially to starting pitchers.

Scioscia said it was a balancing act trying to keep Ohtani's ability to bat fresh in relation to being ready to pitch. Trout is slashing.273/.388/.600 with 15 hits, five homers, 11 RBIs and 14 runs scored, while Ohtani is slashing.346/.414/.769 with nine hits, three homers, 11 RBIs and four runs scored. Kluber is the reigning AL Cy Young Award victor.

Royals games have a 3-7 over/under record so far in 2018. After allowing five runs to the Tigers over five innings, he pitched six scoreless innings against the Indians last weekend. The three runs all came from a three-run homer in the second inning, so it looks like Ohtani settled in nicely after that.

CHICAGO - Gregory Polanco homered twice to help back a third straight solid start by Trevor Williams, and Pittsburgh pulled away from Chicago.

In a 10-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday, Junis allowed just one hit with two walks and three hit batters in seven innings.

Japanese media are encouraged to stay out of the clubhouse, which is typically open to the media several hours before first pitch, unless they have specific questions for Ohtani's teammates - an edict that provoked few protests from Japanese reporters, because clubhouses in Japan are uniformly closed to the media.

That was the fifth time in eight starts that Fiers, 32, had allowed six runs or more, and the slump cost him his spot on Houston's postseason roster.
