De Boer's tenure at Crystal Palace was statistically the worst in Premier League history. I said that before the Liverpool match when many of you were maybe not expecting him to start.

Jose Mourinho has launched a scathing attack at Frank De Boer, who attempted to criticise the United boss for not playing Marcus Rashford more often.

De Boer was in charge of five competitive matches as Palace boss earlier this season, losing his four in the Premier League but beating Ipswich in the EFL Cup before his dismissal on September 11.

"It is a pity that the manager is Mourinho".

He was saying that it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win. "He has got good people around him, and they always assure him he is in a good place", Lingard told ESPN.

After all the discussion of whether Rashford is fading away under Mourinho at Man United, the Special One threw him a start against Liverpool and he kindly paid him back with a brilliant brace to win the staunch rivalry.

He's a player, he's very young, he needs games, but he's so talented.

Yet, some labelled him as a fringe player simply because Alexis Sanchez's arrival gave Mourinho the opportunity to rest a 20-year-old who had played nearly every game for United.

Rashford started his first Premier League game of the year against Liverpool and took his chance by scoring both goals in the 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

'I try to give the best to the kid.

The former Dutch worldwide had praised Rashford and said it was a "pity" that he plays for Mourinho, who only cares about results, and not a manager who would continue to play him even if he has a bad game or two.

You could see he wasn't right - everything which was easy for him previously became a difficulty and Rashford's natural game had vanished as a effect of not having a rest.

The last few months have seen the Manchester-born academy product's remarkable rise plateau somewhat as he has had to make do with substitute appearances under Jose Mourinho's management.
