'American Idol' is back and two talented singers from the Lawton, Oklahoma area killed it on the second night of the premiere last night (3/12). Katy acknowledged Ariana Grande songs are very hard to sing because she's one of the best vocalists in the industry right now and she appreciated the grit and rock Gabbii brought to the song. Lionel noted his voice is "an incredible machine", and Katy said she can't wait to see him push his instrument even further.
Watch the unusual American Idol moment below. After she sang Adele's "When We Were Young", Katy said she had "full body chills", and Luke compared her voice to an angel's.
Francisco moved the entire panel to tears, with Perry visibly overcome with emotion, so much so that she lost her voice.
Another four artists who survived the cut were Andrew Weaver, a 16-year-old high school student from Bremen, GA; Griffin Tucker, a 15-year-old high school student from Dallas, TX; Christina Jones, an 18-year-old high school student from O'Fallon, IL; and Cameron Theodos, a 25-year-old high school basketball coach from Shreveport, LA.
Both Thaddeus and Rissa are both headed to the next round of the competition in Hollywood.
As soon as Trevor stepped into the audition room, he was met with a "Good lord, you're a dreamboat" from host Luke Bryan, and Perry quickly added, "Yeah, my eyes lit up", before blatantly saying, "You're so hot". "It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it", while Bryan exclaimed, "There are things a man can't unsee". While his performance of a Ukrainian tune didn't earn him a ticket to Hollywood on Monday's episode - Perry told him "this is the most fun we've had all day".
Perry's Idol antics didn't stop there as her male co-judges joked throughout the show that Perry was looking for a date.
It comes as Katy took her Witness world tour to South America this week.
"What do you think of these pretty little feet?" she asked.
