Jose Mourinho Won't Rule Out Move for Alexis Sanchez

But United has reportedly emerged as genuine rival to City, whose main attraction to Sanchez is understood to be the presence of Guardiola, the coach who signed him for Barcelona.

"I think it's a good investment because we are talking about a top player and I'm hearing that the amount is around £20m".

It is believed that Sanchez is looking to leave Arsenal in the January transfer but Mourinho was silent on the matter.

United is said to have presented Arsenal with a bigger offer than City, and although Mourinho claims it was not in the club's plans to sign players in January, he acknowledged that fantastic opportunities are worth pursuing whenever they present themselves.

Here we are again, facing the prospect of losing another World class player to the same club, only this time to the Portuguese windbag. The only word I can say is he is a phenomenal player.

Sanchez nearly signed for City in August only for a deal to collapse at the last moment with Arsenal unable to persuade Thomas Lemar to join from Monaco. So he wants to fight as well for the Premier League, that's normal, when you are at that level.

A move to Manchester City has been on the horizon since, with Pep Guardiola's team coming close to getting him in August but just falling short.

" It looks like Sanchez will not extend his contract. These guys want to win, and they want to make money as well".

The report also suggests Mourinho was unwilling to enter the race to sign Sanchez in the previous transfer window in an attempt to avoid becoming embroiled in a summer-long battle for the Chilean's services.

And with Leonardo Cornacini of Elenko Sports - an agency representing Bordeaux talent Malcom, the player Arsenal are said to want to replace Alexis - in London, things seem to be happening.

The latest reports on this transfer situation claim that City won't spend above £20 million f0r the Gunners forward, while United are prepared to go £25 million, plus giving the player himself better per week salary.

City, who now sit a remarkable 15 points clear off second-placed United in the English top flight, are also just one game away from the Carabao Cup final and one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.
