It became seven games, seven defeats.

"It's nice now that things don't look as bleak".

Palace made the worst start to a top-flight English league campaign with no points or goals from their first seven matches, but they are now five points clear of the drop zone thanks to Bakary Sako's 21st-minute victor against the Clarets. "I think you have to be very careful of those statistics and certainly I have no desire to start celebrating in the middle of January".

Their position is still an improvement on the same stage of last season, when they were three places and five points worse off. "Anything more than that would be a huge bonus".

However, while the latter's will not require any form of operation, Schlupp is set to go under the knife and, more worrying is the amount of time he would spend on the sidelines with Hodgson "talking months rather weeks". He's done very well recently for us and was in the team on merit.

Sako scored the victor against Burnley by side-stepping defender Phil Bardsley and driving a powerful shot past goalkeeper Nick Pope for his seventh goal of the season.

Burnley haven't come from behind to win in the Premier League under Sean Dyche ever, and almost found their task even more hard as James McArthur stormed into tap into an empty net, superb defending by Ben Mee keeping the midfielder out.

It was a case of "close but no cigar" according to Sean Dyche as the Clarets lost out to Bakary Sakho's strike against Crystal Palace. This is a game between two sides that are playing some really good football and as a result we should be able to enjoy this game.

"I thought we probably deserved to scratch a draw out of the game at the end, but the margins don't change the record".

"The margins were tight early in the season when we were winning a lot of games, and the margins are tight now".

"I'm not overly disappointed".

The Burnley star has featured 15 times in the league this campaign as the Lancashire club have defied the odds to now reside in the top half of the table.

Dyche said: "He has come in bright and vibrant and he is keen to make a mark on this division".

"'Oh, we will wait for it to come our way'. No".

Arfield is a very good midfielder who has proved himself in the Championship and in the Premier League in England.
