Oprah Winfrey for president in 2020?: Talk It Out

Though not confirmed by Winfrey, sources say that family and friends have been urging her to consider taking on the 2020 presidential election.

It's not the first time Mr Trump has addressed the issue of an Oprah run to the White House.

Oprah Winfrey drew a lot of praise and inspiration from numerous people after a lengthy speech during the Golden Globes event this year.

"I'm not going to focus on anyone's campaign other than President Trump's re-election", she said at the daily briefing. He added, "I think she'll learn on the job the same way Bill Clinton learned - a former governor of Arkansas - or Barack Obama, a junior senator, learned on the job".

Naturally, Twitter had quite a bit to say about Trump's confident stance.

But her Sunday night speech at the Golden Globe awards show unleashed immediate and intense media speculation about a candidacy in 2020, presumably as a Democrat. That afternoon, Stelter reported that sources close to Winfrey said that she is "actively thinking" about running for president. She had Donald Trump, this was before politics, her last week. But then her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, told the Los Angeles Times she just might. - I thought it sounded nearly like a campaign speech.

Mr Trump said this week he did not think Ms Winfrey would run for the White House, noting that he knew her "very well" and had appeared on one of the final episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Actress Meryl Streep, who stars in The Post, also threw her celebrity weight behind Winfrey's possible campaign while speaking ahead of a press conference in London, according to the Guardian.

On the one hand, after a Trump presidency, I would kill for a tiresome individual with specific policy ideas who could speak soporifically about fixing Obamacare until I became bored and turned on "The Bachelorette".

Now in terms of policies, there is the difficulty I think because while she is a very unique figure in terms of her charisma, she is a very conventional figure in terms of her policies.

In a television interview early previous year, Winfrey indicated that Trump's election had changed her mind about whether she lacked experience for America's highest office.

Winfrey is following some of the conventions adopted by career politicians, particularly the idea that some of her confidants have been urging her to run.

People started slamming her for showing support for the #TimesUp movement without also addressing at least some of the allegations against her dad.

The morning after the Golden Globes, Stelter frequently speculated about Winfrey running for president.

After audience laughter died down, she grew serious and said: "No, that won't be happening".
