Babymetal have paid tribute to their guitarist Mikio Fujioka, who - it has been announced -died last week after falling from an observation deck while stargazing on 30 December.

In a statement, BABYMETAL have paid tribute to their late guitarist, saying, "The "Little" Guitar Kami of BABYMETAL's #Kamiband has passed away in the METAL GALAXIES".

Babymetal's post concluded with a salute to guitar virtuoso Allan Holdsworth (who died last year) and a quote from Babymetal's song "The One:" "We are the one".

"We are the one / Together / We're the only one / You are the one/Forever". Aside from performing at Nippon Budokan in 2014, they also became the opening act in Red Hot Chili Peppers' UK tour in 2016 and special guest in Metallica's concert in Korea. He has toured with the band since 2013 and was nicknamed "Ko-Gami", or "The Little God", partially because of his diminutive stature.

Mikio Fujioka, who played guitar for Japanese pop-metal outfit Babymetal's backing group Kami Band, has died at 36 years old.
