The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls).

This is the second Golden Globe The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has picked up tonight, with the series taking home awards for both of its nominations.

The streaming network walked away with two Golden Globes, tying Hulu for the most awards for streaming networks. The series is about a housewife living in late 1950s New York City who decides to pursue stand-up comedy after her marriage falls apart.

Rachel Brosnahan, the non-Jewish actress who plays the very Jewish Midge Maisel in the Amazon Studios series, took home the Best Actress award for a television comedy in Sunday's awards ceremony in California.

Hollywood bible Variety described its win for best TV comedy series - ahead of Black-ish, Master of None, SMILF and Will & Grace - as a "surprise".

"Big kudos and congrats to Rachel for her first Golden Globe and to Amy for an outstanding first season", Prime Video Vice President Greg Hart said in a statement. "We could not have found a better partner; we're never leaving", the series creator said during her acceptance speech. The series will be available for free online starting Friday, Jan. 12 at 12:01 local time through 11:59 p.m. local time on Monday, Jan. 15 and via the Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices, and mobile devices.
