In 2016, there were 67,692 Bonfils blood donors, which added up to 142,214 blood donations made in Colorado that year.

The American Red Cross says this is because of the severe winter weather impacting parts of the country. Presently, the biggest necessities are Type O negative and B negative blood donations, as well as blood platelet donations often needed by cancer patients. Once local needs are met, donations are moved throughout the Blood Systems network to make sure they help those who need it most.

Once conditions are safe to do so, area residents are being urged to help replenish blood supplies.

Type B negative: The blood type that can be transfused to type B Rh-positive and negative patients. One blood collector at the Duluth Red Cross said that another thing holding people back is they are intimated to give blood, because they believe it's a hard process when it really isn't.

Canadian Blood Services' blood donor centre in St. John's is open Mondays to Saturdays, with varied hours each day. An emergency cesarean section was performed, but Hrouda hemorrhaged during surgery.

If you're eligible to donate (you can check if you are here), head to one of the Bonfils blood donation locations, which you can find online. "I try to make a habit of giving whenever I have an opportunity and time". "Because of donors, I get to watch my kids grow up and become the adults they dream of being".
