Pardew - I fear losing Evans

West Ham have joined the race for West Bromwich Albion's Jonny Evans with David Moyes believing the defender could help solve the club's defensive woes, according to a report.

Pardew admitted to being afraid of losing the former Manchester United defender stating that "I'm never confident when you've got great players".

The twenty-nine year old was a target for Manchester City in the summer who, despite their superb start to the campaign could again table a bid when the transfer window reopens though they are set for face competition if they do. Do I want to lose him?

"I have some good history with Nicky Hammond in terms of what we did at Reading and I trust him 100 per cent on the transfer front and with the scouting team", said Pardew. He was terrific for me against Crystal Palace, I can only go on his performance and I thought he was outstanding.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pardew said: "Jonny Evans is our captain".

Swansea are just four points adrift of West Brom in the standings. "Of course I do".

The Baggies now sit just above the relegation zone in the Premier League table having recorded three successive draws, with a visit to bottom-of-the-table Swansea coming up on Saturday.

Saturday's clash at the Liberty Stadium against bottom-of-the-table Swansea is absolutely massive for both sides and Pardew is eyeing all three points.

"The earlier you have those talks the better, and we have had those talks this week".

"We need to turn up on Saturday afternoon and we need to win the game".

With the return of two first-team players, punters may decide to use their free bet on the Baggies picking up just their third win of the season and easing their relegation fears.
