Plateau State Chapter, Damishi Sango has been reportedly abducted by gunmen.

Sango, who was also a former Minister of Sports during the Obasanjo presidency, was abducted alongside his son, a chieftain of the PDP, Mr Emmanuel Mangnin, the driver and one other person.

Sango was kidnapped on Wednesday afternoon on his way to Abuja ahead of the PDP national convention scheduled for December 9.

John Akans, Plateau State Publicity Secretary of PDP, had earlier at a press conference held at the party's secretariat in Jos, on Thursday ruled out any connection with politics in the kidnap, and described the road where the kidnap took place as a den of kidnappers.

A source close to Sango said his (Sango) phone was used in contacting a chieftain of the party in Abuja to demand for the ransom.

Tyopev said that the Plateau Police Command had reached out to the Kaduna Command on the matter. He left Jos about 2pm and was heading for Abuja in preparation for the PDP national convention.
