The Canada-born actress died on Tuesday in Camarillo, California, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner.

Ames faced a Twitter backlash Sunday, with many calling her homophobic, after she advised an adult actress against performing with an actor who had featured in adult gay movies. August vehemently denied the accusation she was being homophobic and posted a series of tweets over the next two days defending herself.

The dailymail reported the actress subjected to a torrent of online abuse from cyberbullies after posting on Twitter under the social media handle, @AugustAmesxxx, that she would not be doing a scene with a male performer who had previously done gay porn.

"Omg, I can't believe she's dead", Albrite tweeted.

Her final tweet simply read, "Fuck y'all". To this, many Twitter users pointed out that gay-porn workers are also tested by the same agencies that test heterosexual-porn workers. She also said that she didn't want to put "my body at risk".

Hornet has since learned from the Ventura County Medical Examiner's office that her death was caused via a suicide by hanging. What the f-- ever! "Someone who I liked & would have even called a friend!"
