Popular Malayalam mimicry artist Kalabhavan Abhi passes away

Abi was also battling cancer for the last few months and was under treatment at the hospital where he died.

Reports also surfaced that the actor was under treatment from quite some time due to reduction in his blood platelets count.

He had performed several stage shows in Kerala and Gulf countries.

Abi, originally Habeeb Muhammad, is one of the many actors who made their career in Malayalam film industry through their stage performances in mimicry.

A PRO from Amrita Hospital in Kochi told The News Minute, "He was brought dead to the hospital at 10.20". The death happened 45 mins before that.

He worked with Kalabhavan, Harisree as well as Kochin Sagar.

With more than 50 films under his belt, he was best known for his roles in Mazhavil Koodaram, Kireedamillatha Rajakkanmar, Mimics Action 500, Aniyathipraavu and Rasikan.

Condoling Abi's death, artist Ramesh Pisharody referred to him as possibily "the first star of mimicry", saying that Abi had been a crowd puller.

He was survived by wife Sunila, son Sheyn Nigam and two daughters Ahana and Aleena.
