Ayodhya dispute: Sri Sri Ravishankar meets Adityanath

Summary: After much controversy over Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar meeting large number spiritual leaders from different religions in a bid to resolve the Ram Temple dispute, he has chose to visit the controversial site at Ayodhya on Thursday.

In its verdict on September 30, 2010, the Lucknw Bench of the Allabahad High court had distributed he 2.77 acres of land equally between Ram Lala Virajmaan, Nirmohi Akhara and Central Sunni Wakf Board. The Supreme Court had however suspended the judgement in 2011. "He (Sri Sri Ravi Shankar) should not indulge in any kite flying".

The spiritual leader is also scheduled to meet senior Muslim cleric Khalid Rashid Firangimahali later in the day. "It was a courtesy call".


Previously, giving his inputs on the Ayodhya issue, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar while speaking to NewsX had said that this is not the first time an amicable solution to Ayodhya dispute is being ensured.

Shia Personal Law Board spokesman Maulana Yasoob Abbas refused to comment on Rizvi's statements but said his board was with the AIMPLB on the matter. The Hindus, however, claim that a Ram Temple that originally stood there was demolished to construct the mosque. "It was out of my own will that I was involved as a mediator in Ram Temple issue", the spiritual guru said.


"He is only providing a platform to representatives from both communities to hold talks and resolve the Ayodhya imbroglio out court", clarified the Spokesperson.

The meeting was held at the residence of Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. He said that during Chandrashekhar Singh's regime a similar effort was made to solve the long due dispute.
