The representative of Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, on Monday accused the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, of working to ensure that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyeson Wike, imposed a candidate from the South South as the National Chairman of the party.

Though the meeting which started at 5.30 p.m. and stretched till midnight had planned to possibly reduce the number of aspirants from eight to possibly two or three, it failed to achieve the objective.

‎The Aspirant debunked the speculations making the round that the meeeting was deadlocked, said that it was a family meeting conducted under a peaceful atmosphere under the Chairmanship of the Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, the Chairman of the Forum.

He also revealed that all the chairmanship aspirants were to sign a pact today at the party's national secretariat, in Abuja, ahead of the convention. "He had been going about not even as an elected national chairman with full tenure but much more ridiculously like a sole administrator with timeless tenure under the disguise of solving one problem or the other".

Governors' Forum has resolved to support anyone who emerges the party's National chairman at the upcoming National Convention of the party.

"A convention that will represent the word Democracy and serve as a template for other parties ". "We are leaving Enugu believing that we will take power at the centre in 2019".

"Our people have worked hard enough and deserve the victory and we are using this opportunity to ask that that election should be credible".

"It is not hidden that prior to the emergence of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, a generally acceptable zoning of national EXCO positions have been reached; where the national chairmanship was zoned to the South, on the understanding that the next presidential candidate shall be of northern extraction".

Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta, Nyesom Wike, Rivers, Emmanuel Udom, Akwa Ibom; and Ben Ayade of Cross River.
