'Notch remover' app fixes the iPhone X's ugliest design element

Having just been approved by Apple earlier today, Notch Remover attempts to address the cosmetic appearance of the iPhone X by modifying your chosen wallpaper to draw less attention to the top of the device. It won't change the way that apps function or the way that videos look on your iPhone X, but if you're desperate to see less of the notch, it's probably your best option at the moment. However, it needed to leave a gap at the top in order to house its earpiece and TrueDepth camera which enables its new Face ID feature.

Has Apple developed a sense of humor all of a sudden, or should we actually take these apps seriously?

If you are one of the people who don't really like seeing the notch on the gorgeous bezel-less display of the iPhone X, well, there is some good news for you.

Despite Apple saying developers should not "hide the device's rounded corners, sensor housing, or indicator for accessing the Home screen by placing black bars at the top and bottom of the screen", the app has been approved. Axiem System's Notch Remover app will remove the notch and replace it with a straight bar across the top of the screen. Unfortunately, neither of them works in apps or anywhere besides your home and lock screen.

"Don't mask or call special attention to key display features".

The Notch Remover app is now available from the iTunes store for $0.99, you can find out more details about the app over at iTunes at the link below.
