Human beings are perhaps the vilest creatures on planet earth.

In yet another horrific incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her caretaker and his friend in south Delhi, the police said on Monday.

Police have refused to disclose the name of the 21-year-old accused who was arrested following the incident.

According to police, the girl's parents had left her in the care and protection of the accused when they went out to their respective workplaces.

Rai and the victim's father both work as a security guard in south Delhi's Shahpur Jat. The police have since arrested the accused, a 21-year-old man.

The father told police that his wife works as a domestic help and he was assigned the morning shift at work on the day of the crime.

When the mother of the baby found her crying after the neighbour had come, she took her to a nearby hospital, where she discovered that her child had been sexually assaulted.

However, when he returned from work in the evening, he spotted his daughter bleeding. A case was also registered against the accused under section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault, punishable with a maximum term of life imprisonment).
