Arsenal closing in on Ligue 1 star

Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon in a deal worth more than £60m, according to reports in the British media.

The 24-year-old France global has previously been compared to Lionel Messi by Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas and he is clearly a massive influence on the team given that he has already scored 12 goals in 15 appearances so far this season.

A move, as reported by the Daily Star is "almost done" and would see the 24-year-old link up with his former Lyon team-mate Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates.

However, it says that will only happen "if they are unable to push through a deal for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho".

The report claims that the Gunners have identified Zaha as the potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is set to depart either in January or in the summer.

Sanchez brings fight, a winning attitude, goals and creativity to our side, and Fekir plays with a rare guile that would bring some fight into our squad, something which we would have lost next summer.

Ozil is available for £30m, and Sanchez could leave for the same amount.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are both out of contract at the end of the season - and could be flogged in January to ensure cash comes in rather than the star pair leaving for nothing.
