"Wike should not be allowed to turn Rivers State into a theatre of unwarranted war, only obtainable during the Sir Celestine Omehia's era, when Port Harcourt was rated as the riskiest place in the world".

The state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Wike's Chief Security Officer (CSO), Promise Wosu, a Superintendent of Police (SP), and other security personnel who were involved in the bloody clash.

According to report that was made available by Simeon Nwakaudu, who is the Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor, Electronic Media, the incident took place at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road.

Disaster was averted yesterday as Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike allegedly escaped assassination following an alleged attack on his convoy by the Special Anti-robbery Squad Operatives and soldiers in the motorcade of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Security officials of Governor Wike allegedly attacked the convoy of the Transportation Minister.

The statement also alleged that while the SARS officers stepped down to assault the security personnel of the governor, the soldiers remained in their vehicle watching the scene. Akin Fakorede and supervised by Amaechi's ADC, Mr. Debewari.

It reiterated that Wike's main desire was to truncate Nigeria's hard-earned democracy, after the failed plot by the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the 2015 presidential election, stressing that the Rivers governor's disdain for President Muhammadu Buhari, APC and Amaechi was legendary.

"The SARS personnel and soldiers in the minister's convoy mowed down the governor's escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot auto".

Amaechi's escort details were, however, unlucky during the 3 p.m. attack, as one of them, Sgt. Eteng Ewelu was battered, with blood on his face, while the AK-47 rifle of Sgt. Princewill Ubaji was snatched while being forcibly disarmed. They hit the vehicle, tried to smash the windscreens, back and side windows and broke a side mirror. Governor Wike was not harmed, despite the attack.

"However, when Governor Wike got to the point where the incident occurred after Amaechi's vehicle had gone, his security men blocked the road again, and thoroughly beat up a policeman attached to Amaechi in Port Harcourt".

The Minister eventually passed through after the intervention of the security team on ground to protect him in Port Harcourt.

It also said that if anything happens to the governor or his immediate family and aides, the APC and Amaechi should be held responsible.

Franklyn says that a Bulletproof vehicle personally used by Amaechi knocked down one of Wike's Outriders and he sustained serious injuries.

Their security convoys and details did not miss the chance to create havoc in efforts to please their principals, while drawing their guns, leading to allegations from both camps that it was a plot to assassinate the governor, and Amaechi, who is the current minister of Transport.

But speaking during a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the State Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, the state's governor said that he resolved to bring the perceived ugly actions at the Court of Appeal to the attention of Nigerians, law professionals and the political community "for them to take the necessary steps".
