2 militants killed along LoC in Uri: Army

"Militants fired upon a naka party of police near Police Station Rajpora in Pulwama, resulting in injuries to two constables - Abdul Salam and Munir Ahmad", a police officer said.

"The group was challenged and militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight".

Earlier on Saturday, in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, one policeman was killed after militants attacked a patrol party.


He said large quantity of arms and ammunition and other warlike stores were recovered from the slain militants.

Two infiltrators were gunned down and the search operation is still going. According to top Army official, information from across the border suggests that more than 80 - 90 terrorists present on launching pads and backed by Pakistani army are waiting to infiltrate through 19 Division Baramulla from Gulmarg to Naugam.

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said a possible tragedy was averted.


"BAT action bid was foiled by Army and J&K police at Dulanja, Uri". No casualty on our side.

He said it was the fourth infiltration attempt foiled by troops in Uri sector in last five months.
