For the second straight season and third time in three years, Cincinnati Bengals star tight end Tyler Eifert will miss a significant amount of playing time due to injury.

October 12, 2017Bengals TE Tyler Eifert scheduled to undergo back surgery Thursday and is expected to be out 4-6 months, per source.

He has just twice played 9 or more games in a season while producing 127 catches, 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns so far in his short, injury-ravaged career.

Since making it to Hawaii for that game with 13 touchdowns, he's missed 11 of the last 21 games and since his rookie season in 2013 he's missed 29 of 53 games.

The move comes as no surprise, with Eifert slated to undergo season-ending back surgery.

Tyler Kroft has stepped up in Eifert's absence with 14 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

When healthy, Eifert can be a solid receiver, especially inside the red zone.
