UFC Winnipeg (UFC on FOX 26) takes place December 16 at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The fight for Lawler, now ranked as the No. 1 contender to Woodley's throne, will be just his second since losing the belt.
Tickets for the show go on sale to the public on October 20th, and to Fight Club members on October 18th.
Lawler, who now owns a lifetime professional mixed martial arts record of 28-11 (9-2 UFC), will be heading into his second bout since losing the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley in July 2016. He is now 6-1 over his last seven including wins vs. Carlos Condit, Rory MacDonald and Johny Hendricks.
The organization announced the bout via the UFC Canada Twitter page that Lawler will take on former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of UFC on FOX 26. Dos Anjos has looked like a new man since he moved up to 170 pounds.
Dos Anjos, meanwhile, last fought at UFC 215, also in Canada, when he dominated long-time contender Neil Magny to a first-round submission win. Cirkunov had won eight fights in a row before being knocked out in 28 seconds by Volkan Oezdemir on May 28th in Stockholm. As such, this fight could very well produce the welterweight division's next title challenger.
Still, the night featured two future UFC champions in Woodley and current heavyweight titleholder Stipe Miocic.
