'People say Redknapp's a wheeler-dealer and it's so disrespectful, ' Merson said on Sky's A League Of Their Own.

PAUL MERSON has taken aim at Arsene Wenger yet again - this time claiming Arsenal would win the Premier League if the Frenchman had the "tactical nous" of Harry Redknapp.

"Tactically, he's one of the best I've worked with".

Merson played under both men during his playing career, but believes the English manager is a far more accomplished tactician than Wenger.

Social media was quick to respond with laughter and bemusement at Merson's comparison of three-time Premier League and seven-time FA Cup victor Wenger with Harry Redknapp. The north London club have not won the title in 13 years, with their last triumph coming as early as in 2003/04 when they went an entire season undefeated.

Redknapp was sacked by Birmingham City last month as the team struggled at the wrong end of the Championship table. We were 2-0 down at half-time and it could've been 10-0.

"I think top four is an achievement now, certainly for Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal".

Merson won the First Division title under Redknapp at Portsmouth and the former midfielder reveals how his ex-manager was so instrumental in their success.

'That's when I knew he was a great manager'.

Merson's role as a pundit on Sky Sports has left fans with many moments of laughter and confusion with his bold and audacious opinions.
