The outage came around the same time as a Facebook outage, which is being attributed to possible scheduled maintenance. Facebook-owned photo-sharing network Instagram too is down.

Thousands of Facebook and Instagram users were unable to access their social media pages Wednesday morning.

The outage started around 8:20 a.m. ET, according to DownDetector.com, a site that monitors service disruptions. There are also some outages in Europe.

The outage of the network was tracked by the website Down Detector, where users continue to report issues with the platform.

Facebook said it was aware that some users were now having trouble accessing both Facebook and Instagram, Reuters reports. Many are taking to Twitter to see if that site is also down, as seen above.

Facebook and Instagram tend to be fairly stable, but they don't have a ideal record.

Users on both desktops and mobile devices are complaining about the issues, turning to Twitter to vent their frustrations because, well, why not?
